Panik
From UniversalPanikWiki
Panik is a German band made up of six members, David, Franky, Jan, Juri, Linke and Timo, established in 2006 under the name Nevada Tan. Their music combines elements of hip-hop and hard rock in a sound that has some of the earmarks of Nu-Metal and Alternative. It has occasionally been compared to Linkin Park. Because of some differences with their management, in 2007 the band cancelled their contract and changed their name to Panik.
History
Four members of the band (David, Jan, Linke and Timo) have been performing together since 2002. The four, along with another friend, created the original Panik and performed in a number of small, local shows. After being discovered in 2006, the band found a new lead singer and a new drummer, and changed their name to Nevada Tan. They released their first album, Niemand hört Dich in the spring of 2007. After falling out with their management, they discovered that the band name had been trademarked without their knowledge and when they ended the contract, they were forced to change the name of the band back to Panik.
Career
The band's first single, Revolution, was released in March of 2007, quickly followed by the album Niemand hört Dich, in April of 2007. The album peaked at number 8 on the charts in Germany. In June of 2007 the second single from the album, Vorbei was released. At the same time the album was released in Russia where it went gold in May of 2008. The third single from the album, Neustart, was released in August of 2007.
In January of 2008, after separating from their managers and taking on the name Panik, the band released a new song, Wegweiser, which detailed some of the struggles they'd been through over the previous year. Soon thereafter, in February of 2008, the band entered the Bundesvision Song Contest with a new track, Was würdest Du tun?.
A new album is currently in production, and is expected to be released some time in late 2008.
